Cheap Monday !!

Kid Stuff
These are a few really great ideas, cheap or free with a little imagination. This is fun for all of those mom's that have the kids home for the summer and need to occupy their time. Try these :)
 *These are tp rolls!
 * Just a little cardboard,  some magic markers, and a hole punch.
 * Aluminum foil, rolls of paper towls or rolled up dish towls, and tissue paper.
* Water, paint brush, and a driveway.

Have fun this week with the kiddo's. Even if it's just the neighbor's kids! I love the wings on the shoes!

Cheap Monday!!

Anthropologie does a really great job of using usually discarded materials and creating beautiful window and merchandising displays. Each store has a team that creates these local pieces of art. It got me thinking about what I could make around my house for my table or mantle. I loved these displays.

HERE is a link to one of the creative minds behind these awesome displays. So here is to thinking outside the box and making something plain or discarded beautiful.

Cheap Monday!!

This is a great little project that we just completed in our living room.

Steps & Ingredients

1. Pick out an accent paint color.
2. Tape of a section on your wall.
3. Paint inside that section.
4. Hang shelves on the stripe. (I got mine from Ikea)
5. Add a collection to showcase. (In our case it is sand from all over the world, from our travels and our friends travels. It is a great reminder everyday of our friends and our adventures.)

Cheap Monday!!

I was inspired by President's Day in this little post. I really love federal mirrors. I am using one that I found at the Brooklyn flea market last summer in my living room. They are wonderful little vintage jewelry pieces for the home. In the two pics below they were both painted which would  be a wonderful idea for an inexpenisve find. Please check to see if it is real before you go spray painting it though! Happy President's Day!

Cheap Monday!!

This was my little project for the weekend. I painted an recovered this little bench that I am using as my desk chair for the moment. It was originally my great grandmother's bench and I covered it in a pillow case! It was the perfect size and it coordinated with the other things in my room. Now, however this color scheme wasn't jiving, so I painted it and used a discontinued fabric scrap from work to cover it. I think it came out pretty good. I'm a sucker for a chevron!

P.S. Yes that is a pic of me and Thom Felicia on my desk!! He is my favorite and I met him at a local book signing! He is sooo good!

Cheap Monday!!

Sorry I have been MIA for the past two weeks. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I spent the last two weeks on a great North American tour. First Ben and I went to Oklahoma to spend time with my family and then we skipped off to San Francisco for a little celebration vacation. We were celebrating our five year wedding anniversary and the fact that we are both graduated from school!
This has been a wonderful way to start off the New Year!

This is the stunning Christmas Eve table that my Grandmother set. She is absolutely fabulous if you couldn't tell. I think I get all of my fancy from her.

This is the Zam Zam room a wonderful little speak easy from the 1920's.
This was the BEST Chipino in the CASTRO!!

 The Redwood Forrest!!

I hope you are having the Cheapest of Mondays! I'll have more pics from the trip later this week. I went to some pretty awesome little shops and an amazing tea room.

Glad to be back! Happy New Year!

Cheap Monday!!

I was looking around the house a few weeks ago and noticed that I don't have a whole lot of Christmas decorations in other rooms in my house besides the living room. I don't have a ton of money to spend sprucing up the bedroom or the guest bath, but I came across these two super cute ideas that would look so chic and pulled together. The garland is made using coffee filters.  The little tree is made from a piece of wood, a few pipe cleaners, and a few old necklaces. So if you need a few little tricks to make the house feel a little more Christmas like before the guests come in a few days,  try these!

Merry Christmas Week!
