Table Top Vignette

These are the most tricky things to do in the design industry. It's hard to try to create a wonderful mix of objects that look beautiful together and tell a story of the homeowner. Sometimes they just come out looking like a heap of clutter. I thought these below were done beautifully.

Wellies

I love these Marc Jacobs rain boots. I also love these Hunter rain boots. Don't you love how slim fitting they are. The little tie in the front of the Marc Jacobs boots just kills me. Now all we need is some rain.

Blog Love

This is my friend Danielle's Blog. She has a wonderful flower company called Brown Paper Designs. She is based out of California and does the most beautiful events. She is super talented and I really love her style.

This is Baxter he is the best dog in the world and his home is that little Brooklyn apartment that I blogged about yesterday.  Oh and I LOVE this black tablecloth with the graphic little napkin and not to mention those flowers!
Danielle will probably be a constant source of inspiration for my little blog. I've added her to my blog roll if you would like to check her out. I'm so proud of her little company.

Weekend Recap

Just got back from Brooklyn and I feel refreshed and inspired and filled with love from my best friends. I think we might have walked 90 miles over the course of this weekend and I'm very impressed with my very pregnant friend that practically lead the way. :) Here are a few pics from the weekend.

This is my friend's patio that I'm obsessed with. It's wonderful because it is so large and private.  To find a patio like this in NYC is nearly impossible, good find, my friend.

Morning walk in Brooklyn Heights. This is the spot where I started to fall in love with Brooklyn.

This is the Iris Cafe. The food is wonderful it has a great mix of hipster meets farmers market.

These pics are from the Brooklyn Flea Market. I could have died and gone to heaven.

This is the most genius table that my friend purchased. It's actually a picnic table but folds up to an adorable trunk. Oh what will they think of next.

Florence Broadhurst

For those not acquainted with this feisty broad, she was the go-to girl back in the day for amazing wallpaper. But Broadhurst was so much more than just pretty paper on a wall; the lady knew how to live and live it large. In the course of her 78 year life, Broadhurst changed her name three times, was a singer and dancer in India, founded a performing arts academy in Shanghai, owned a designer boutique in London’s Bond Street and operated a trucking company in Sydney.

It was during the 1960s and 1970s however, that her talent shone brightly as a wallpaper designer, bringing her Sydney studio international success. Her tropical upbringing in country Queensland heavily influenced her exotic designs, proving to stand out amongst the stiff and stale wallpaper of the times. Her full life came to a tragic end when in 1977 she was murdered in her studio. The murder remains unsolved today.

Broadhurst’s colourful legacy goes beyond the art world, with her flamboyant prints making their way into the collections of Australian fashion designers. Known as a style maven of her day, Broadhurst’s patterns are a favorite for Australian fashion magician Akira, and have also been used by Nicole Zimmerman and Karen Walker. Her paintings and patterns are a cool collector’s item with Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Carly Simon all owning a piece of Broadhurst’s brilliance.
This little story was written by Penylane at THEVINE

She lead an amazingly colorful life,  traveled the world, created things she loved, and never stopped learning along the way. She is an inspiration and I LOVE her work.

Cheap Monday

Over the weekend I got creative and painted a few little canvases for a friend. It's not very expensive, you can get paint and a canvas at your local hobby store for under $10. Here is how mine turned out.

If you don't want to do your own there are lots of great artists on etsy or you can just email me and I'll make you one. :)

Fancy Floors

When someone says that a house has good bones one of those bones is the flooring.  My favorite is herringbone. I know I'm a dork. These flooring options are beautiful and make such a statement in a room.

It might be a crime to paint a wood floor, but I really think it can look sharp and give new life to a space.

Kelly Wearstler

I sort of have a love hate relationship with her designs. I have come to the conclusion that she thinks outside the box and takes risks and therefore I love it.  Sometimes her designs work beautifully and sometimes it doesn't all work together, but that's the risk she takes and I applaud her for that. Bravo Kelly.
